32.
A Paradoxical Icon.

The chair was badly burned in a house fire. Its powerful memories were not destroyed. Indeed, they were enhanced: using 24-carat gold spun on silk for the seat fabric, anodized faux-finished titanium on the mahogany back panel; copper-gilting on the bow (implying "a penny for your thoughts"), different natural finishes on the cross-stretcher, the frame, and the top charred edge of the chair. The paradox: insight, foresight, the past, the present, the future. "We captured them all within the circle of order and chaos and transformed their power and tragedy into beauty."
